Google、Intel、Sony가 공동으로 Web TV 발표

Finacial Times의 기사에 의하면, Google, Intel, Sony는 이번 주 Smart TV라고 하는 「가전 업계, 텔레비전 업계에 있어서의 소셜 플랫폼」을 공동으로 발표한다고 한다.

Bloomberg와 WSJ가 지난 4월 29일에 Web TV라고 하는 명칭 이외에 이미 보도했다.그것에 따르면, 데뷰는 Google I/O라고 하는 것이었다.

이 Google의 디벨로퍼·컨퍼런스는 샌프란시스코에서 5월 19일과 20일에 개최된다.

인텔의 CEO, Paul Otellini는 지난 주, 애널리스트·미팅에서, 모바일·디바이스 및 디지털 가전의 분야에서 Atom CPU의 이용의 증대를 기대하고 있다고 말했다.Intel은 또 최신의 CPU, Dragonpoint는 음성, 비디오 처리 능력을 비롯해 오픈 소프트웨어의 서포트도 개선되고 있어 라이벌 제품에 비해 가격도 싸다고 말했다.

France Telecom과 Telecom Italia는 셋탑박스에 이 칩을 이용하는 것으로 알려져 있다.

Financial Times에 의하면, Google은 Android 디벨로퍼·커뮤니티에 대해, Sony를 위한 어플리케이션의 개발을 피로연 한다고 한다.Sony는 텔레비전에 블루레이 DVD 플레이어에 웹의 접속 능력을 갖게 할 수 있도록 노력중이다.다른 텔레비전·메이커도 가까워 Sony와 같은 방향으로 가게 될 것이다.

2007년 이래, Google은 TV 진출에 노력을 계속해 왔지만, 이번 시도의 결과가 주목된다.

텔레비전에서 Google 검색이 가능하게 되고, YouTube 비디오가 직접 재생되게 되는 것일까?　어쩌면 차세대 TV에는 Chrome 브라우저가 인스톨 될지도 모른다.그러나 동시에, 이러한 움직임은 Apple를 각성 시키고, Apple TV로부터 최대의 가능성을 끌어 내게 될지도 모른다.
